Who are we?
Brighton Acapella is a welcoming and inclusive choir in Brighton that was formed in 2015 and is pretty unique. We do the odd concert, but essentially it's an opportunity for experienced singers to get together on Monday evenings in a domestic setting and have a jolly time. It's a glee club for the 21st century! We have a keyboard to help with note bashing, but all the singing is unaccompanied in four, or sometimes eight part harmony. We sing some classical music, both old and new, but mix it up with songs from Abba, The Beatles and The Beach Boys, to name but a few. There are usually a dozen of us, but there's room for one or two more, particularly if you are a tenor or bass. So come on down!

Weekly Rehearsals
We meet on Monday evenings at 7.30 and sing round a table in our host's living room near Preston Park.

Performances around Brighton
Performances in 2024 included a summer garden party, a performance at a golf club, and in the opulent surroundings of Brighton Pavilion.

Social Events
Every Monday is a social event, with wine, crisps and soft drinks and a merry chat between members. Then there's the summer garden party, where'll you be singing amongst friends.
Frequently Asked Questions

About us
Established ten years ago, Brighton Acapella continues to be hosted by gregarious Stephen Newberry, who provides his living room and refreshments for a fun evening. There are currently a dozen or so active members, but we would be keen to hear from any experienced tenors or basses. Please message us if you'd like to join us for a tryout.
